The Mini-Marathon has become such a popular event that we will make use of the opportunity to raise awareness of the PTAA at a broader level. As part of our fundraising plans for 2012, the Pioneer Association intends to take part in this year’s Women’s’ Mini-Marathon in Dublin on Monday, 4 June 2012. It is hoped that a contingent of walkers/runners would enter on behalf of the Pioneer Association to raise funds so we can continue our mission into the future.
The Pioneer Association will be one of hundreds of Irish and international exhibitors participating in the 50th Eucharistic Congress.
Today (Thursday 23 February 2012) Robert Shannon won the Pioneer Association’s presidential election. Today’s result marks Robert’s second win in the Pioneers’ presidential race. He was first elected President in 2009.
This Ash Wednesday (22 February 2012) the Pioneer Association is inviting members of the general public to take up the Association’s traditional Lenten pledge.
The Pioneer Lenten pledge is a short-term pledge that can be taken for the six weeks of Lent during which takers choose to abstain from alcohol and to recite the Pioneer prayer or reflection twice daily.

The Pioneer pilgrimage to the Holy Land will take place from 18th-27th October 2012 and will be led by the Central Spiritual Director Fr. Bernard McGuckian, SJ.
Patricia Gallagher and Dermot Fagan, members of PTAA National Youth Committee, were invited onto the Ireland AM show on TV3 yesterday (5th December 2011) to talk about their involvement in the Pioneers, the link between alcohol and Christmas, and the effect their decision has on their social lifestyle.
Thanks to the generosity of the people of Ireland to the Pioneers’ 2011 fundraising appeal, the country’s local Pioneer centres remain open and issued their annual Christmas today (21 November 2011) by inviting drinkers to enjoy the forthcoming seasonal festivities by drinking sensibly and moderately this Christmas.
The Pioneer Association would like to extend its congratulations to Fr. Kevin Heery from Mullingar and the Diocese of Meath on his recent ordination to the priesthood.
