Celebration in Chicago

chicagoAt Mass in DesPlaines, Illinois on Friday, May 17th, 2013 Jim Staunton was presented with the Fr James Cullen Medal in recognition for his services to the Pioneer Association over 60 years. Jim, born over 90 years ago in the village of Knock, where Our Lady appeared on August 21st, 1879, has convened a monthly meeting of the Pioneers since 1953.

When presenting the Fr Cullen Medal, Fr McGuckian, our Central Spiritual Director, expressed the thanks of the whole Association to Jim and to his wife Eileen, for their faithful witness to the Sacred Heart for over six decades. He expressed his thanks to them for their hospitality to him personally. He said that he was only one of many priests who had been made welcome at their home in North Odell Avenue, Chicago, including the Servant of God, Fr Patrick Peyton.

Among the concelebrants was Fr James Kubicki, S.J., National Director of the Apostleship of Prayer in the United States. The Pioneer Association, founded in Ireland in 1898, originated as a section of the Apostleship of Prayer which began in France in 1844.
