Pioneer Association .....Goes Global

The US-based Catholic network, Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), will broadcast an interview with Fr. Barney McGuckian, S.J., spiritual director of the Pioneer Association on Thursday 25 June @ 1am Irish time.

Pioneer Golf Classic 2009

The Annual Pioneer Golf Classic takes place in Clontarf Golf Club on Friday 3rd July 2009. This fundraising event is open to both Pioneers and non-pioneers alike.

Sacred Heart DVD

The Pioneer Association can only exist where there is widespread devotion to the Sacred Heart. "The Heart of Jesus in History" - the DVD produced by Fr. Bernard J. McGuckian, SJ and Philip Mulally, will be transmitted world wide by EWTN on the Feast of the Sacred Heart (European transmission at 7.30am, {London Time}) on 19th June 2009.

Members from Leinster province of the PTAA are organising a mass to The Sacred Heart of Jesus which will be held at the monastic site of Clonmacnoise, Co.Offaly at 7.30pm on Friday 19 June.

All are welcome to attend this event.
 

New Govt Direction on Alcohol

Campaigners have welcomed the Government’s decision to put alcohol on equal footing with hard drugs in a new prevention strategy, as recognition of the serious affects of alcohol abuse on Irish society.

Limerick - Youth Activity Day

On the 21st of March last approximately 20 Young Pioneers from the South Limerick Region attended a Pioneer Activity Day.  It took place in the Drombanna Day Care Centre.

All Ireland Readoiri Finals 2009

The All Ireland Readoiri Finals of the Pioneer Association's Talent Competition was held on the last Saturday in February (28/02/09) in the Community Centre Kingscourt, Co. Cavan.  The event was attended by over eight hundred patrons which included approximately 250 competitors both adult and young people. It is a magnificent  venue and has just been extended recently.

New President of Pioneer Association

Robert Shannon was recently appointed as the President of the Association.

From Durrus, West Cork, Robert has been an active member of the PTAA since childhood. He comes from a strong pioneering tradition and was until his presidential appointment was head of the Durrus-based branch of the Association.

New Advocacy and Communications Manager

Orlaith O’Callaghan was recently appointed to the post of Advocacy and Communications Manager with the Pioneer and Total Abstinence Association.
